Online Certification Trainings

 WEA Certification Training Opportunities

WEA is offering a series of upcoming trainings to help you navigate your next steps with your certification and professional growth. All trainings are online, open only to WEA members and provide clock hours. There are three different certification offerings:

  • Teacher Certification 101, January 12th 4:30-6:30pm (1st session), February 13th 4:30-6:30pm (2nd session), 2 clock hours, FREE
    • Focuses on latest teacher certificate renewal requirements, policy changes, STEM and equity-based renewal requirement, PGP basics, National Board basics, OSPI eCert platform.

  • ESA Certification 101, January 18th 4:30-6:30pm (1st session), February 21st 4:30-6:30pm (2nd session), 2 clock hours, FREE
    • Focuses on latest ESA certificate renewal requirements, policy changes, OSPI eCert platform,  GP basics and ESA professional growth needs.
  • National Board Maintenance of Certificate, $20 per module, 4 clock hours per module
    • Module 1, February 9th 4:00-7:30pm, February 11th 9:00am-12:30pm
      • Overview of the MOC process and introduction of Professional Growth Experiences (PGEs). The homework is to draft PGEs and share them in Module Two.
    • Module 2, February 16th 4:00-7:30pm, February 18th 9:00am-12:30pm
      • Details the MOC process. Participants will share possible PGEs and dive into the prompts for Components One and Two.
  • Professional Growth Plan, FREE
    • PGP #1, January 10th 4:30-7:30pm, February 27th 4:30-7:30pm (3 clock hours)
      • ​​​​​​​Certificated educators can complete one PGP per year for 25 clock hours for certificate renewal and salary movement.  Session covers PGP basics, alignment with TPEP, meeting STEM requirement using PGPs and time to draft your PGP.
    • PGP #2, January 26th 4:30-6:30pm, March 6th 4:30-6:30pm (2 clock hours)
      • ​​​​​​​Audience: All Certificated Educators who have completed PGP #1
      • In this session, participants participate in small-group sessions focused on individualized feedback on PGP drafts.  Participants have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions around PGPs and then have work time to make edits.​​​​​​​PGP
    • PGP #3, February 16th 4:30-6:30pm, March 20th 4:30-6:30pm (2 clock hours)
      • ​​​​​​​Audience: All Certificated Educators who have completed PGP #2
      • In this final session, participants bring a completed PGP for final review. The
        process facilitates possible sign-off of completed PGPs using a rubric.
        Participants also explore the OSPI eCert platform for logging in their PGP/clock
        hours; they also review the steps for using PGPs for salary advancement.
  • National Board Information Session, FREE, 2 clock hours per session
    • ​​​​​​​Session #1, January 24th 4:30-6:30pm, March 1st 4:30-6:30pm
      • This introductory session on National Board Certification provides an overview of
        the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), basics of the
        certification process, and why educators consider board certification.
    • Session #2, January 31st 4:30-6:30pm, March 8th 4:30-6:30pm​​​​​​​
      • This second session on National Board Certification focuses on a deeper exploration of the NBPTS certificate area standards and the four required components. The session also shares basics about candidate support options.
    • Session #3, February 7th 4:30-6:30pm, March 15th 4:30-6:30pm​​​​​​​
      • This third session in the WEA National Board Certification information series helps educators decide possible next steps and timelines with the certification process.
        Educators explore various support options available, and finalize a personal check-list to guide their National Board journey.

All trainings are led by WEA’s Certification Cadre and National Board trainers. **After each course, in approximately 5 -10 business days, you will receive a course evaluation via email.
Once you've completed and submitted the course evaluation, you will receive your Clock Hour transcript within two weeks.
